Coach Julian Nagelsmann seemed to be in an excellent mood afterwards Bayern MunichHis stunning 6-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in the opening match of the 60th season in the Bundesliga.
And why not? The team’s exceptional performance led to what can only be called a “statement win”, right at the start of the season. This not only keeps fans happy and optimistic about what lies ahead, but also gives the players and coaching staff the confidence they so desperately need to face what could be one of the most stressful seasons of the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.
Nagelsmann’s hoarse voice was the cause of the interlocutors’ fears, but the coach scoffed at it, saying that people would soon find themselves accustomed to his battered voice.
In terms of the difference between last season’s opener against Borussia Monchengladbach which ended in a 1-1 draw and today’s match against Frankfurt, Nagelsmann believes this match was much better than the draw. He described the extraordinary energy at Deustche-Bank Park as beautiful and was very pleased with the players’ ability to celebrate with the crowd.
Joshua Kimmich’s supposedly blind header in the middle of a smoke-filled box was stunning, as he made it 1-0 for Bayern in the fifth minute. Nagelsmann praised seeing Tony Tabalovich and Dino Topmüller in favorite positioning as Kevin Trapp. “But Josh was actually pretty far, but he was doing it brilliantly,” he said, praising the midfielder.
Arguably the Bavarian team’s biggest signing, with the exception of Matthijs de Ligt, Sadio Mane was exceptional for Bayern. Commenting on Mane’s goal in the 29th minute, Nagelsmann praised every player involved: he praised Kimmich for delivering an excellent ball, and Serge Gnabry for his beautiful career and Mané finish.
Nagelsmann expressed that having 5 different goalscorers for the second game in a row is very valuable because that is the need an hour after Robert Lewandowski left for F.C.B.
Regarding the new signing of Matthijs Tal, the manager recounted that Tal had had some recklessness in training but showed a lot of maturity while on the pitch.
In terms of tactics, some of our fans and staff here at BFW were pleased that Nagelsmann believes in the back four!: “We played with 4 defenses in both halves today, not with 3 backs. Of course when you win 5 goals, it’s easier – you are better. A coach in the world and everyone tells you to keep doing the same. I think we defended really well today during the whole game,” he said, praising the defence.
Speaking about the need for Bayern Munich to win the Bundesliga, Nagelsmann believes this has something to do with the fact that Bayern already have a pre-existing streak. “If you win the championship ten times in a row, that could be the case. We want to advance in the cup more than last time, also in Champions LeagueWhere we had a bad move last season,” he said, stressing the need to perform better in the European stage this season.
As always, we appreciate all the support!
